"Maid of Honor" was Kathryn's first face and a significant change in her style of painting. From that, a member of the board of the Holland (MI) Area Arts Council requested a painting as a donation for auction at their 1998 fundraiser, New York, New York (painting entitled "Radio City "). Since then, there has been little time to look back as Kathryn has been successful in having her paintings hanging in residences from Rancho Santa Fe, CA to Destin, FL and points in between.

Kathryn had started painting (traditional folk art) in the early 1970's while a single working mother. After regular working hours and her son's bedtime, Kathryn would paint as a means of relaxation and entertainment. With encouragement from friends, Kathryn's paintings soon became gifts and, from that, others began requesting her work. One such commission was completed for a former V.P. of Time/Life.

By the 1980's Kathryn was a corporate executive and had lived in most of the major cities in the United States not allowing any time for painting. Upon retirement from corporate life, Kathryn again picked up the paint brushes. This time, however, Kathryn felt she had painted and repainted many of the same objects (in different layouts) with her folk art, and wanted to try something altogether new -- this was 1998 and 'Maid of Honor' and her new style was born.
